Itinerary for GSS South China Trip, 1-7 April 2024
Day 1: Singapore- Xiamen: Departure on Monday, 1 April;
Xiamen Airline MF852, 15-19:50; SIN T1 XMN T3
Check into the hotel and rest. Borman Hotel 4★
Day 2: Xiamen- Quanzhou, introduction to the Root Finding and Ancestor Seeking Platform, visit to the Experience Center, visit to the Nanyang Overseas Chinese Museum.
Day 3: Quanzhou-, members using the platform to trace their roots. Discuss near-term and long-term cooperation and exchanges between the two parties. Visit Quanzhou attractions: Kaiyuan Monastery, West Street, Quanzhou Overseas Chinese Remittance Hall.
Day 4: Quanzhou – Quanzhou to Anxi, Qingming Festival in Anxi
- Meet up with local organization willing to give presentation on Anxi geography, demographic, culture, history, etc.
- Meet up with Anxi Local Chronicles Compilation Committee, to introduce to us the geographical and surname gazette (local chronicles, surname published in Anxi since ancient time to now, if possible, to request a physical set of latest reprints, GSS can consider deposit in NLB for Singaporean to have easy access and research. Genealogy records compilation and challenges.
Day 5: Anxi: Attractions in Anxi
- Chin Shui Caves Temple
- a visit to Woolong tea processing plant and the Tea Business Centre.
Anxi-Xiamen
Day 6: Xiamen One-day tour: Xiamen food, Zhongshan Road Old Town Pedestrian Mall, Tan Kan Kee memorial museum or Xiamen Overseas Chinese Museum.)
Day 7: Xiamen- Singapore：Return on Sunday, 7 April:
