Workshop 1: Searching your Ancestral Roots

– How one goes about tracing and connecting from one generation to another of one own ancestry.
– For those with missing generations, what to do with them?
– How to try finding the connection to earlier ancestors if the ancestral line that goes only up to progenitor of ancestral place
– For those who do not read nor write Chinese, how to go about understanding the zupu.
– How to read dates and time in zupu and convert them to Gregorian dates and vice-versa.
Workshop 2: Building your Family Chart
15-Dec-2019, 2 pm-4 pm
– How to digitize Chinese characters from on jiapu (家譜).
– How to get ancestries from zupu (族譜) into one big spreadsheet.
– How to put your family trees on a free website and get connected with others.
– Explore the use of geni.com and other application software
